How many people out there journal? Honestly, if you don't, you should start. Leading studies done by people smarter than me have shown that you don't remember half of your life. And while this life is only temporary, wouldn't it be terrible to get down the road and realize that you can't rememer your youth? So everyone should journal. Maybe no a tone but at least wrtie down major events in your life (baptisms, events, birthdays, getting a goldfish to live more than 1 week....).
And a journal doesn't have to be full of only life events. They can have so much else in them. Future sermons you want to teach, funny quotes that you want to remember, random doodles that you came up with when your pastor completely lost you during his message, or maybe even the things you wish you could scream to the world. I've been finding myself doing that a lot recently: I can't stand up on a podium every week yet. I can't go on national tv to talk to world leaders about my thoughts on events going on in our country. My opinioins aren't necessarily the best or most appropiate to share at certain times. My advice that I wish to give usually doens't have anyone on the receiving end. So I just write them down with the thought that maybe one day someone will ask me something and then I can overwhelm them with all my thoughts writen down in the journal I usually have about 5 feet away from me.
I take journaling very seriously.
However, I've recently discovered a problem with journaling: NO ONE KNOWS WHAT YOU WRITE. And that deeply frusterates me. I'm not saying that all my opinions and view points and thoughts are that great, but sometimes I want other opinions of I think my opinion actually means something or that I may be right on something. Then I just want to get it out there. I like getting my opinion stated and like taking stands on things. And writing. Writing is fun too.
This is Purely Myself. A place for ramblings, reviews, and other things straight from yours truely. I hope you grow to enjoy (and follow!) this blog
